November 2018 marked the Harrell family’s six-year reunion of serving as missionaries in Africa. Shortly after they arrived in Lesotho in November 2012, the Harrells realized they would have to raise additional funds in order to afford a family car, as used automobiles are double the price of those in America. It was at that time the Harrells asked for donations toward a 2000 Toyota Condor, and were blessed by the immediate financial response that allowed them to buy their first African family vehicle outright within a month.
Since that time, this faithful car has done its job – and more. It has been loaded down with way too many Basotho soccer players, driven over the mountain passes of Lesotho, and moved the family to South Africa. It has been most reliable in towing, pulling out, and being towed in Genesis Strong Man Competitions. Even after the faithful Condor’s body began to fail her as a result of rust due to the salty air of the South Coast, her engine remained strong and she took the Harrell family 30 kms to school and ministry, over rough African farm roads, reliably, each and every day. The Condor has been the go-to “loan out” car for the Genesis Youth team, as she is easy to drive and reliable. Richard has taught many young people how to drive in this Condor, and the Harrells are not the only ones attached to, and affectionate toward her.
So, it is with great sadness, and a whole lot of emotion, that the Harrell family has to admit that their beloved Condor is no longer fit to drive. Apart from the massive rust damage that gives the driver and passengers a good shower on rainy days, the engine has failed. Because this model of vehicle is no longer produced, the cost of repairing the Condor would outweigh the cost of getting another vehicle. So, the Harrell family finds themselves once more in the position of needing to raise funds for a vehicle, and is asking you to consider giving to the ministry fund designated specifically for this purpose. 100% of the money in this special fund will go directly toward the cost of another car for the Harrell family. Won’t you pray about, and consider giving to the furtherance of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in this special and practical way? Thank You.
