Two years ago, New Life Primary School was meeting in terrible building conditions, even by local standards. Thankfully, we were able to raise enough funds to build a suitable classroom building and office for Grades 1-3, and then again for Grades 4-6. The government would have shut this school down without these brick buildings. If that had happened, over 200 kids – including many orphans and refugees – would have nowhere to go to school.
The Nursery and Kindergarten kids still meet in wooden shacks and the kitchen shed has a dirt floor. The school’s continued existence is now dependent on improving the condition of the nursery and kindergarten. A new kitchen with concrete floor and metal roof, and a proper three-classroom block for Nursery and Kindergarten classes, will cost $11,000 in total. We are looking to raise $5,500, all of which will be matched by a generous donor!
Any funds raised in excess of this $5,500 goal will go towards the general fund for Knickers for New Life: providing knickers, sanitary pads, mosquito repellent soap, handwashing stations, and more for young students in Uganda.
